Is My Approval for an Ohio Medical Marijuana Card Guaranteed?

There are not guarantees that you will be accepted into the program. However, if you have one of the current qualifying conditions with a prior diagnosis then there should be no reason that you would not be accepted into the program. Does Ohio Recognize/Reciprocate Medical Marijuana Cards from Other States?

No. The law however does require that the State Board of Pharmacy attempt in good faith to negotiate and enter into reciprocity agreements with other states. Currently that state has not entered into any reciprocity agreements with another state.

Is My Personal Information Kept Confidential?

Absolutely, yes! Just as with other medical information, your personal info is kept confidential and safe. There are no published lists of patients that have registered with the state to obtain a medical cannabis card. Lists of patients who have registered to obtain a medical cannabis card are kept confidential by state and local governments.

How Much Medical Marijuana May I Buy or Am I Able to Purchase at a Time?

Ohio state law says that medical marijuana patients or caregivers in Ohio are able to have a 90-day supply of cannabis products. The amount of cannabis that a medical marijuana patient or caregiver can possess is determined by the state's Board of Pharmacy, which takes into account the patient’s dose and frequency of use. Patients and caregivers are expected to adhere to the 90-day supply limit and any additional purchases must be tracked in order to avoid potential legal issues. The state offers some guidance for patients on how to figure out what a 90-day supply of medical marijuana might be made up of.

What Types of Medical Marijuana Products Are Available in Ohio?

From flower, concentrates, and edibles to tinctures, oils, and lotions and everything else in between, there are plenty of ways to use medical cannabis. Depending on your needs and preferences, you can choose the right product and dosage for yourself. Where Can I Purchase Medical Cannabis in Ohio?

Can I Have a Designated Caregiver Purchase My Medical Marijuana Products for Me?

Yes, you are able to have a designated caregiver purchase medical marijuana for you once they have been found eligible by an approved marijuana doctor. The caregiver must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid ID and register as your designated caregiver with the state. The caregiver will then be able to purchase medical marijuana from a licensed dispensary. How Do I Prove My Eligibility for Ohio's Medical Marijuana Program?

Once you complete your application to see a medical marijuana doctor and they have examined your medical history, you will be able to access your patient ID card saying that you are certified by the Ohio state board of pharmacy to obtain medical marijuana treatment. This ID card will be issued by the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program and can be used to purchase medical marijuana from a licensed dispensary in Ohio.

Can I Get a Medical Marijuana Card Today?

In most cases, yes you can! We offer same day appointments and the state's medical marijuana program typically is able to activate your card the same day as well. How Much Does an Ohio Medical Marijuana Card Recommendation Cost?

There are two separate costs involved with acquiring your medical cannabis card. The first is the cost of your recommendation from a certified marijuana doctor. This fee will vary depending on the doctor or practice that you seek your medical marijuana recommendation. In addition to the cost of your medical marijuana card recommendation, there is also an annual activation fee with the Ohio board of pharmacy for every medical marijuana patient. This medical card annual registration fee is $50 with a discounted rate of $25 available to people with a verified veteran or indigent status.

How Often Do I Need to Have my Recommendation Renewed?

Your recommendation is good for one year, meaning that all medical marijuana cards in Ohio need to be reviewed and renewed annually. A doctor's recommendation for medical marijuana can be obtained through a scheduled appointment with a physician, and the patient must provide current medical records. The patient must also provide proof of Ohio residency. After the recommendation is received, patients can then apply for a medical card from the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy. While this may seem inconvenient, this is another step in maintaining the integrity of the program.

Can Any Doctor in Ohio Certify Me for a Medical Marijuana Card?

No, only certain licensed physicians who have completed the necessary continued education to obtain their Certificate to Recommend (CTR) are allowed to diagnose and treat conditions with marijuana. Due to the constantly evolving treatments Doctors may come and go from participating in the program based on the latest training and education. Ohio residents who currently have one of the recognized medical conditions that are allowed to be treated with cannabis in the state of Ohio. This list is subject to change every year, with patients being able to petition The State Medical Board of Ohio in November each calendar year. How Does Somebody Get Their Ohio Medical Marijuana Card?

Despite what somebody might have told you, the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program isn't just a wink and a nudge plus a fee to get a pass for purchasing legal cannabis in the Buckeye State. Unfortunately the only way to get a medical cannabis card is to be diagnosed with one of the 25 current ailments recognized by the state of Ohio as qualifying conditions. So yes, you do actually have to be "sick" to get marijuana as a legal prescription.
